Hi I’m Shelly! I’m a fitness instructor, specializing in mindful movement.
I started my fitness career teaching group fitness classes at my alma matter, Cal Poly Pomona. As a freshman, I joined a yoga club on campus in the hopes of managing my severe anxiety and learning healthier coping skills. I fell in love with how connecting my breath with movement helped me to focus my mind on something constructive instead of letting stress eat away at me. I loved it so much so that I started teaching when the small club on campus found itself without an instructor. Soon after I became an instructor for the campus recreation center, where I still teach today after almost ten years!
I completed AFAA’s group fitness certification in 2013 and have continued to advance my knowledge with numerous courses in yoga, Pilates, barre, and strength training. In 2014, before starting a graduate program in Psychology, I completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Cloud Nine Yoga. After completing my Master’s degree (can you see the theme? I am a lifelong student), I started a Pilates teacher training program and in January 2020 I completed all 500 hours and tested out for my Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Certification. In addition to these teacher training programs, I have advanced my skills by acquiring additional certifications and attending workshops with Barre Above, Barre Intensity, Barre Variations, Pilates Suspension Method, BOSU, TRX, Trigger Point Therapy, and Kathryn Bruni-Young. I am currently studying to take the NCPT exam and ACE’s personal trainer exam later this year. I am passionate about helping others embrace movement of all kinds in order to feel their best.
